Ogg support

Please support the Ogg container format as audio/video output in the production menu.

Firefox 3.5 plays Ogg natively, and Ogg support in Google Chrome and Opera is coming.

More video support in Camtasia Studio

We would like to be able to import MPEG2, MPEG4 and MTS (high def format from camcorders such as Sony, Canon, and Panasonic) into the Camtasia timeline. Benefits: It would make it easier for us to incorporate video from different groups in our company. Currently we're using other tools to convert these formats into something Camtasia can import. In some cases, it has resulted in us using the converting tool as the video ...more »

Reuse callouts

want to save callouts and reuse them in another project. Have them in the clip bin so I can drop them on the timeline.

Add Multi-core Support Please!

It seems that only 1 of 2...or 4 cores is used, even when the processor affinity is set to use all. This is a limitation that I hope TechSmith can fix, because I love (need) camtasia!

Pro Sound Card (ASIO and WDM) Support!

Support for recording sound output (while screen recording) from professional sound cards, which use WDM or ASIO drivers, currently not supported by Camtasia.

This has often been suggested in the forums. Do a search for "ASIO" there, and you will see that many users have requested pro sound card support, for years!

Copy-and-paste between presentations

Actually, I really just want Clippy the Microsoft Paperclip integrated somehow in the user experience. That guy was so awesome. They should re-animate him, maybe with an actual voice like Lee Corso's. That would be pretty cool.

Animated Callouts

"I'd like to have a callout fly-in or animate across the screen some how or pulse in and out or have a bouncing arrow." This idea was submitted on behalf of a customer. - Troy

Portable Camtasia Recorder

Doing user testing in a lab where you have full control over the equipment is ideal, but not always possible. Participants can't always come to you, especially if the system you're testing is an internal, network-only application (like performance reviews, employee directories, proprietary engineering or purchasing systems). In these situations, you're lucky if the client will allow you to bring recording equipment (e.g., ...more »

Mute audio track

During multi-track editing with a music bed and voice-over, it is necessary sometimes to mute the music bed or the vo track in order to do video/audio alignment tasks. You dont always want to hear the whole mix when doing these.

It just needs a simple 'Mute' button on the track head at left in order to accomplish this.

Crossfade between clips

I'd like to be able to fade between two video clips, with both in motion. Currently Camtasia stops the video clip on the last frame and fades into the first frame of the next clip, and then continues video playback after the fade is complete.

I can do crossfades with an AVISynth filter and Virtualdubmod, and then plug that clip into Camtasia, but it's a bit of a pain!

Record Keystrokes Pressed

A floating/overlay box which displays the current keystrokes and mouse buttons being accessed.

e.g CTRL+ALT+LMB

Options could include,

- font selection, size and alignment

- font stroke width and colour

- typeface/background colours

- use of alpha (instead of background colour)

Add bullets and other effects to text in callouts.

When adding text to any type of callout, I'd like to be able to do more formatting to the text.

For instance, I'd like to add bullets (and control bullet indent spacing, and text indent spacing), and wrap at the indent point.

Right now, I have to use a dash (-) as a bullet in my text.

Automate Embedding Video on a Webpage

It's great that Camtasia spits out a HTML page and all the supporting files, etc...but how many times do you just use that HTML page to display your video? I hardly EVER do...I embed videos on webpages! Right now, you have to copy / paste script code...object code...check paths...oye vay what a pain. In fact, it's so unreliable and easy to make a time consuming mistake that I just use an IFRAME and point to the HTML ...more »

Change clip (or clip portion) speed without producing the video

I need an easy way to speed up a portion of a recorded clip. I recorded myself performing a long, intricate task, and wanted to display it in fast-forward while I gave a voiceover summarizing what I was doing. But there's no way to speed up or slow down a clip without rendering/producing it! My workflow is to record my actions onscreen, then record a voiceover later. However, if the recording takes longer to do something ...more »

More Non Linear Editing Features

"I'd like to see some of the things I'm used to in Premier or Sony Vegas or Final Cut. Things like multiple video tracks. Blank space on the timeline. If I remove a clip, the callout doesn't go away. The ability to control audio levels throughout the wave form -- sometimes called ducking and rubber banding." This idea was submitted on behalf of a customer. - Troy
